Keyword alerts vs Reddit intent

reddit · buyer intent

A keyword alert and an intent inbox answer different questions. The alert asks whether a word appeared. The inbox asks whether the person who wrote the thread is choosing a product, and whether you have already dealt with it.

When the alert is the right tool

Use an alert when the volume is low and you will read every email. A founder watching a rare brand name, or a support lead who must see every complaint, does not need a score. F5Bot-style email and a tool like Syften are built for that. Google Alerts is the free version for web pages, and it misses a lot of Reddit.

When the alert becomes the problem

The failure mode is familiar. The keyword is a normal English word, or a category, and the emails arrive faster than you can open Reddit. You start archiving them unread. At that point the alert is a cost, not a channel. You need a sort.

CollectIntent's sort is a 0–100 score tied to one product, plus a draft for the threads you open. It will not watch Hacker News or X. If those networks matter, keep the alert product for them and use the inbox for Reddit. The monitoring tools list is the side-by-side version of this choice.

Do not buy a third behavior by accident

Some Reddit tools publish the comment for you, or hand you a calendar of promotional posts. That is not an alert and it is not an inbox. If the promise is autopilot, read who owns the account that clicks submit. CollectIntent's answer is you.
