Reddit for SaaS founders

Reddit works for a SaaS founder when a buyer is already asking what to use. It does not work as a place to announce the launch and wait. The announcement thread expires in a day. The "what do you use for this" thread keeps getting read, including from Google, for as long as the advice stays specific.

Pick conversations, not communities in the abstract

A subreddit is only a folder. The unit of work is a thread. Start with the last month of posts in two or three communities where your buyers complain in detail, and mark the ones that are choosing a tool. If a week of reading produces no choosing threads, that community is not a channel yet. Find another, or accept that Reddit is not where this product is bought.

The subreddit finder is a search box for that first list. It is not a directory, and a community showing up in search is not permission to promote.

A week of work that fits in the product

Read the new high-score threads. Reply where you can be specific. Skip the rest. That is the whole cadence. A content calendar of promotional posts is a different job, and most subs will remove them. The Reddit marketing strategy page is the longer version of this rule.

What not to automate

Do not automate the comment. Reddit's own rules treat undisclosed or automated promotion as spam, and communities ban the account that does it. A draft you edit is fine. A warmed account posting the draft while you are asleep is a different product, and it is not this one.

Founders who want the queue instead of a pile of keyword email can compare the plans. The monitoring runs on a schedule. The reply does not.
